HER PERSPECTIVE ON FASHION AND THE WAY SHE EXPRESSES HERSELF THROUGH IT.LILY .C.
“Fashion is something I think about every single day. It is embedded in my daily decisions in a way that goes far beyond clothing. If I want to feel good, I need to wear something that genuinely makes me happy. Like many people, what I wear shapes my confidence, and that simple relationship between looking good and feeling good has always been central to how I move through the world.
Lately, though, my relationship with personal style has become more uncertain. I've been trying to figure out what feels most authentically me, and in that process I've realized that the most exciting moments in fashion often come from the unexpected. My boyfriend's mother has an incredible closet that she regularly clears out, and because we're the same size, she generously passes pieces on to me each season. So many of those clothes are things I never would have picked up in a vintage store or off a rack, but having the chance to try them has been surprisingly liberating. There's something so satisfying about making an unexpected piece work and discovering that you love something you never would have chosen for yourself.
That sense of discovery is what keeps me genuinely interested in fashion. It's the same feeling I get when I find a designer piece on sale, the excitement of uncovering something truly special that feels timeless. I love the idea of buying something I can imagine wearing thirty years from now, and one day passing it on to someone else, whether it's a daughter or a future son's girlfriend, just as those treasured pieces were passed on to me.”
